Independent School District 112
a/k/a Eastern Carver County Schools

No Company is Too Big to Play Fair.

On September 3, 2019, Nichols Kaster and Madia Law filed this federal civil rights case in the District of Minnesota on behalf of six African-American students, alleging Independent School District 112 a/k/a Eastern Carver County Schools allowed racism to permeate its Chaska, Minnesota, schools for years. These students and their parents seek to secure a safe and non-discriminatory learning environment for all students. Despite repeated complaints from students and their families, the district took no meaningful action to address the dangerous and substantially disruptive environment in its schools. Our legal team is working with these brave students and their parents to bring change and accountability to Chaska schools and ensure a learning environment where every student is safe and free from discrimination.

The lawsuit alleges that the district violated the students’ right to equal protection and violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.

This case is entitled T.B. et al. v. Independent School District 112, Court File No. 0:19-cv-02414 (District of Minnesota)
