Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) On July 20th, 2012 a former employee of U.S. Bank filed suit in California federal court seeking unpaid overtime wages under federal law. The Plaintiff alleges that U.S. Bank misclassified her and other mortgage underwriters as exempt from the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and as a result, improperly denied them overtime compensation. The case is entitled Williams v. U.S. Bank National Association, and was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. The case number is 2:12-cv-01907-LKK-EFB.
According to the complaint, U.S. Bank uniformly classified its mortgage underwriters as “exempt” from overtime pay and did not pay them overtime, even though they were entitled to receive overtime pay. Plaintiff’s attorney Robert L. Schug stated, “My client simply seeks to recover the pay that she and other mortgage underwriters were denied as a result of their improper classification.”
