On September 20, 2024, Nichols Kaster, PLLP – together with Sirianni Youtz Spoonemore Hamburger PLLC and Public Justice – brought a lawsuit on behalf of a proposed nationwide class of people who have Anthem insurance and have been diagnosed with obesity. The lawsuit alleges that Anthem violates the Affordable Care Act’s prohibition against disability discrimination by not covering prescription medications to treat obesity.
